Extended Abstract

NameCoach aims to solve the often overlooked problem of name mispronunciation and misgendering of faculty and students. Through seamless integrations with your institution's Learning Management Systems and communication platforms such as Gmail, Outlook, Slack, and Salesforce, NameCoach is helping to form a sense of community among all individuals through accurate name pronunciation and gender identity.

NameCoach allows faculty, staff, and peers to audio record their own name pronunciation so others can listen, practice, and perfect this pronunciation prior to interacting with each other. With accessibility and authenticity in mind, NameCoach offers access to the world's largest and most accurate name pronunciation database with recordings provided by multi-lingual voice talent for undoubtedly culturally correct pronunciation.

Commencement ceremonies shine a spotlight on accurate name pronunciation as it is one of the most important days in a student's academic career. With access to NameCoah's stand-alone platform, NamePages, students can quickly record their pronunciations where degree-presenters can then organize and practice unique names before this monumental day to ensure accurate pronunciation.

Join us as we discuss the importance of name pronunciation and how all members of campus life can support a sense of community, belonging, and inclusivity.
