Brief Abstract

Join your volunteer Field Guides and other conference attendees for the synchronous Field Guide Power Hour, where they will help you plan your conference experiences based on your areas of interest, help you connect with an Innovation Crew, and create an OLC Accelerate engagement plan. During this power hour, you’ll have the chance to organize your conference schedule and select presentations and activities you want to attend. The OLC Field Guides will be there to suggest interesting presentations and virtual social activities, train you on the use of the OLC Accelerate Virtual conference venue and website, and point out Engagement Maps designed to help with your program planning. We will also discuss what sessions will be live streamed from the onsite conference in October, which all virtual attendees will have access to. We’ll also discuss ways to the variety of ways to participate virtually - including Slack and Twitter! Meet old friends, make new acquaintances, and plan your schedule. We can't wait to see you there!

Lead Presenter: Katrina Wehr, Penn State University

Katrina is an Instructional Designer at Penn State University and recently began her journey to obtain her doctorate in learning, design and technology. She has instructional design experience in industry, K-12 and higher education. One of her core beliefs is that technology can transform education for both learners and instructors through the careful selection and application of educational technology solutions with respect to specific course outcomes and objectives.

Co-presenter: Jason Reed, State College of Florida

Education and technology have always been two passions in my life. As an Assistant Professor in the Business and Technology Department for State College of Florida, I have excelled at teaching students about technology and how technology fits into today's business world. I have the patience and skills needed to effectively teach students about a variety of technology subjects and I have the ability to quickly learn and present new information and subjects. As a Corrections Deputy for the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office, I balanced my assigned work duties, as well as volunteered my technical and educational skills to help the Agency. I assisted in implementing several technology systems in the jail and trained staff on the use of these technology systems. I look forward to utilizing my skills and knowledge of technology systems to teach and empower a new generation to help them learn the skills necessary to succeed in today's technology driven workforce.
