Brief Abstract

There are many things to consider when selecting new tools or technology for teaching and learning. Join the OLC Live! cohosts and the TTK chefs as they jump into deep play to explore four easy steps for selecting quality tools and technology to ensure that each flight is safe and enjoyable for all travelers.

The aim is to play on the elements of PAVE

  • Pilot-in-Command Chef or Attendee Name
  • Aircraft - Technology Strategy
  • EnVironment and - Delivery mode (online, F2F, blended)
  • External Pressures - Considerations institution type, program level, learners, connectivity to the classroom (devices and ISP), guiding questions etc.

Presenters

Jenae Cohn writes and speaks about how to support engagement, communication, and critical thinking in digital learning experiences. She currently works as the Director of Academic Technology at California State University, Sacramento and has held prior roles at Stanford University and University of California, Davis. She is the author of the book, Skim, Dive, Surface: Teaching Digital Reading (West Virginia University Press, 2021), and contributes to The Chronicle of Higher Education, Inside Higher Ed, and Faculty Focus. Supporting instructors in mindful approaches to digital pedagogy, she leads workshops and events for colleges nationwide. Dr. Williams works as an Online Instructional Specialist with responsibility for online faculty development at the UWI, Open Campus. She has been involved in Higher Education for 13 years and served over the last 10 years in online education in roles including Programme Coordinator, Curriculum Development Specialist, Instructional Design and Administrator with the Open Campus. Dr. Williams' research interests include faculty development strategies, literacy for development and emerging trends in virtual education and accessibility. Previous speaking engagements include conferences sponsored by the Online Learning Consortium, EDUCAUSE, Regional Best Practice for The University of the West Indies and The Pan-Commonwealth Forum on Open Learning.
