Moving Beyond Space and Time; A Universal Design-Inspired Approach to Engagement
Brief Abstract
We’re working in an era right now where not everyone can take off large chunks of time off to attend professional development. Coupling this with the increased accessibility of mobile devices, outreach to and the engagement of global communities, and things like bandwidth, we’re left with many variables to take into consideration as presenters. How do we plan for the fact that learners might be joining during their regular work day or while doing something else? What does it mean to make space for someone who is joining from their phone? What should I be thinking about to make sure I am inclusive of a potentially international audience? How does this translate across learning spaces (whether those be designed for educators or students? In this session, we will share ideas, strategies, tools, and resources, and forward a UDL-inspired approach for preparing your learning experiences so that we might make space for the variety of ways learners are coming to and engaging with your session.
Please join us for this special session, located in Presidential Chamber B, during the Engagement Block Party.
