Extended Abstract

Instructors have questioned teaching biology courses online due to concerns regarding the hands-on laboratory components of these courses, in particular how to provide an authentic laboratory experience comparable to an on-campus laboratory. However, the shutdown of campuses due to COVID-19 heightened the need to identify ways to provide rigorous and engaging biology laboratories online, and may drive students to seek increased flexibility in scheduling laboratory courses in the future. This session will discuss the concerns and solutions related to providing online biology laboratories. We will present how Science Interactive can be translated to an online environment, and how our Cloud platform supports student and faculty engagement and success.
